On Thursday, Donald Trump’s transition team announced that the New York Rockettes would be performing at his Inauguration on January 20. Immediately afterwards, one entitled Rockette spoke out to whine about how unfair it is that she was being forced to perform for Trump.
Unfortunately for her, however, she quickly learned she’d made a huge mistake.
As a dancer for the Rockettes, Phoebe Pearl is used to having things her way as she shines in the spotlight. After news of the inauguration broke, Pearl ignored the fact that many would see this as a huge opportunity by whining about it on her Instagram page.
“I usually don’t use social media to make a political stand but I feel overwhelmed with emotion,” Pearl wrote, according to Mad World News. “Finding out that it has been decided for us that Rockettes will be performing at the Presidential inauguration makes me feel embarrassed and disappointed.”
She went on to complain that her bosses are “forcing” her to dance at the inauguration.
“The women I work with are intelligent and are full of love and the decision of performing for a man that stands for everything we’re against is appalling,” she wrote alongside a picture of the Rockettes that she altered with a speech bubble that says, “Not my president!”
“I am speaking for just myself but please know that after we found out this news, we have been performing with tears in our eyes and heavy hearts #notmypresident,” Pearl concluded.
Though the Rockettes’ owner, MSG Entertainment, did not respond to Pearl’s comments, the union leader that represents the dancers immediately put her in her place. The union rep reportedly issued a message to Rockette dancers that they are not allowed to “boycott” the event.
